With the goal of strengthening capacity of social workers and para-social workers in Vietnam in child protection and family preservation work, the Social Work Professional Development Center (SWPDC) has conducted 11 training courses in social work for 585 social workers and para – social workers in Ha Noi, Thanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Quang Nam and Ben Tre.
The findings from the training post-test showed that almost all of participants pointed out that they were fully satisfied with the contents of the trainings, the training methodology and the training materials developed by SWPDC. All of the participants considered the information, knowledge and skills learned from the training courses were useful, of which more than 80% of the trainees confirmed that they are able to apply the knowledge gained from the training courses into their day to day work to protect vulnerable children.
The training participants also would like to have opportunities to study more about child protection, especially care and protection of children infected by HIV, children exposed to domestic violence, children conflict with law and neglected children.
With support from HealthRight International and local partners, SWPDC will scale up the project activities to organize some in-service training courses for social workers in other provinces in Vietnam.
