On the morning of March 29, at Ha Lung Thuong Community Cultural House, Thanh Hoa province, the “Parent–Child Bonding Day” was organized for families of workers at Adiana Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. with children aged 10–18.

The program was organized by the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD) in collaboration with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labour. This activity is part of the No-VAC Project, funded by the United Nations Fund (UNF) and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), aiming to strengthen family bonds and enhance parenting skills.

A space for listening, understanding, and expressing love

Amid the busy schedules of industrial workers, time for family interaction is often limited. Many parents shared that they struggle to communicate and connect with their children, especially during adolescence—a stage marked by emotional and psychological changes.

At the same time, young people admitted that they often hesitate to express their feelings and rarely share their pressures and challenges with their parents.

Addressing these invisible gaps, the “Parent–Child Bonding Day” created a safe space for families to learn how to listen, share, and express love more openly and positively.

Handwritten letters – bridging unspoken emotions

Through interactive games, experiential activities, and group sharing, parents and children were given opportunities to better understand one another and strengthen their connection—both physically and emotionally.

A key highlight of the program was the handwritten letter activity between parents and children. This created a meaningful opportunity for participants to express thoughts and emotions that are often left unspoken.

Through simple yet heartfelt words, many parents became emotional as they wrote messages of love, apologies, and gratitude to their children—some for the very first time. In return, children opened up about their academic pressures, personal thoughts, and their desire to be understood.

These letters became more than just an activity—they served as a genuine bridge of emotional connection within families.

A parent’s embrace – a source of comfort and security

One of the most touching moments of the program was the embrace between parents and children. These simple gestures carried deep meaning—symbolizing love, care, and protection.

For children, being held and feeling close to their parents provides a strong foundation for emotional security, confidence, and overall well-being as they grow.

Families together – spreading love and connection

Throughout the program, families engaged in various bonding activities, including group games, shared experiences, and discussions on the role of parents in nurturing and supporting children.

Moments of playing, learning, and sharing together created a warm and meaningful atmosphere, allowing family members to reconnect naturally.z7672973781610_25796aa085130ba292dac6f3d4059cc2 z7672974079740_c7b52953fa418f94218d36d87c11b7f3 z7672975846989_78644b8df29c0d3459270dc4a887623a

The program left a strong positive impression on participating families while reinforcing the important role of parents in accompanying their children through their developmental journey. It also contributes to building a more supportive and humane working environment—one that promotes sustainable development alongside the well-being of workers and their families.
