From March 15 to 19, 2025, the Research and Training Center for Community Development (RTCCD) organized the WISC-IV Test Training Program to aid in evaluating the effectiveness of the Early Journey of Life (EJOL) model for staff and researchers at the center.
The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, 4th edition (abbreviated as WISC-IV, adapted by the College of Education – Vietnam National University) is a test to measure the cognitive abilities of children aged 6-16, revised and adapted for Vietnamese children. The training program was taught by Dr. Ho Thu Ha – Lecturer at the College of Education – VNU.
At the beginning of the course, the trainees were introduced to the WISC-IV test, the development process, and the theoretical framework of human intelligence. In addition, Dr. Ha also explained the WISC-IV adaptation process to give a thorough picture of the theories behind this test. From reliability studies done in Vietnam, this test has been assessed as highly reliable for Vietnamese children.
Next, the trainees learned about the implementation process of WISC-IV. The training group directly practiced with children under the close guidance of the trainer. Through the practice sessions and lively discussions, our staff has acquired valuable knowledge and experience in administering WISC-IV.
This training course has improved the capacity of RTCCD staff in child assessment, serving the research to find scientific evidence for the effectiveness of the early childhood development model.
