RTCCD and Quang Ninh CDC Conduct Supportive Supervision at Commune Health Stations on October 16-17,2025

Following the training course for commune-level health workers (CHWs) held at Quang Yen District Health Center from October 1 to 3, 2025, participants have since cascaded the training to their colleagues at commune health stations and promptly integrated parental guidance sessions into regular immunization days.

On October 16, 2025, the Quang Ninh Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC), in collaboration with the Research and Training Center for Community Development (RTCCD), conducted supportive supervision visits at four commune health stations under Quang Yen District Health Center – Dong Mai, Cong Hoa, Hiep Hoa, and Nam Hoa.

The supervisory team from Quang Ninh CDC was led by Dr. Doan Ngoc Thanh, Specialist Level II, Deputy Director, accompanied by Dr. Nguyen Thi Trang, Specialist Level I, Deputy Head of the Reproductive Health Department, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Luan, Public Health Officer. From RTCCD, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong, MSc, joined the team. The Quang Yen District Health Center also assigned staff members to accompany the delegation to monitor both the supervision process and the implementation of immunization activities.

To maximize efficiency, the delegation was divided into two groups, each supporting local CHWs directly at the commune health stations.

At the end of each visit, the supervisory team held discussions with the commune health staff, listening to their reflections on both the advantages and challenges of integrating parental guidance into immunization sessions. In addition to recognizing stations that had implemented the model effectively, the supervisors also provided constructive feedback on areas requiring further improvement in future sessions.

After completing the supervision at the four stations, the delegation convened a review meeting with Dr. Nguyen Huu Lac, Specialist Level II, Deputy Director in charge of Preventive Medicine, and staff from the Reproductive Health Department. Dr. Lac emphasized:

“The content integrated into immunization sessions is both practical and close to the community’s needs. Our center will continue to accompany and encourage all commune health stations to implement it. The shortcomings identified today will not be repeated; we will draw lessons to improve implementation at upcoming stations.”

On October 17, 2025, the supervision team continued their mission in coordination with Dong Trieu District Health Center, visiting four commune health stations – Trang An, Hong Thai Dong, Trang Luong, and Nguyen Hue. Commune health workers at these stations demonstrated confidence and teamwork, effectively organizing and dividing responsibilities to ensure smooth immunization operations while integrating the parental guidance sessions.

The program’s content was warmly received by the community for its relevance and practicality. Ms. Dao Thi Nhung (born in 1991), a resident of Binh Khe Ward (formerly Trang An Commune), shared her thoughts:

“The hands-on activities today were really useful for parents. I’ve learned a lot from the practical guidance and will encourage my friends and neighbors to join future sessions at our health station. I’m truly thankful for the program.”

Dr. Nguyen Van Truong, Deputy Director of Dong Trieu District Health Center, also remarked after the supervision:

“Since the commune health stations were reorganized under the commune People’s Committees, the infrastructure has improved significantly. We plan to allocate at least one large-screen television per station to facilitate video demonstrations during the sessions.”

The initial rollout of the EM-THRIVE Project integration into routine immunization sessions at commune health stations has been smooth and well-received by both health workers and local residents – marking a positive step toward improving early childhood development through community-based health initiatives.
