This half-day workshop focused intensively on essential emergency response skills, including how to handle choking, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and respond to burns and electric shocks – the commond child injuries at preschools. The training combined theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, with 75% of the time dedicated to practical exercises.

Teachers actively engaged in practicing techniques on both live volunteers and medical mannequins equipped with lung bags, airways, and simulated obstructions. This allowed them to accurately identify hand placement and apply the appropriate pressure, back blows and rescue breaths required during emergency procedures.

One teacher shared “Today’s class was fantastic. We had the chance to practice continuously. I’ve attended first aid training before, but it was mostly theory and watching the instructor demonstrate. Last year, the doctors gave a long lecture and only allowed practice at the very end. This time, the instructor guided us through each step and technique right from the start, which helped me retain the knowledge and perform the skills more effectively. She was very thorough and attentive, even pointing out techniques that I hadn’t learned in previous sessions. I really enjoyed it and am very grateful.”

The Vice Principal commented “On behalf of the school’s Board of Management, I would like to sincerely thank the instructor for her enthusiastic and detailed guidance. She provided hands-on support and step-by-step instruction for our teachers. I believe that after today’s session, they have gained confidence and mastered the practical skills needed to respond to emergencies involving children. I attended the entire session and found the teaching method highly suitable for preschool educators. We hope to welcome the instructor back in future years.”

The Principal added via a social media message “Thank you so much. The teachers really enjoyed today’s session and said your teaching was very structured and detailed. The combination of theory and practice helped them remember and apply the knowledge immediately. They were excited because the lesson was so practical. Previous sessions taught by doctors were also good, but the teachers said your instruction was more engaging and precise. I’m thrilled that our teachers are now well-equipped with these essential skills.”

RTCCD hopes that all preschool teachers are equipped with accurate first aid skills, along with the confidence and composure to respond effectively in emergencies—ensuring the safety and well-being of young children.
