Workshop on introducing the project to evaluate the effectiveness of the club model for the first 1,000 days of a child’s life

After nearly a year of preparation, today on March 1, 2018, RTCCD Center collaborated with the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health) and Ha Nam Provincial People’s Committee held a conference to introduce research and development. In 84 communes of Ha Nam province, the RTCCD and Monash University of Melbourne initiatives were evaluated to provide a training program that provides and improves skills for mothers and families to adhere to a rigorous science guide. care for the overall development of children in the first 1000 days of life. The results of the study are expected to contribute to the effective renewal of child care policies in Ha Nam, and aim to replicate to the provinces and cities of Vietnam and developing countries.

The workshop was attended by leaders from the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health), Ha Nam Provincial People’s Committee, Department of Health, Department of Science and Technology, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Women’s Union and some other departments of Ha Nam province and representatives of the RTCCD research team.

This initiative was built on the results of basic research conducted by the RTCCD research team – Henan Department of Health, Monash University, University of Melbourne over the past 5 years, on the status of disease and the health care of pregnant women and children in the first year of life, combined with international experiences, especially recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. The initiative launched immediately attracted the attention of international scientific research sponsorship programs, and has successfully passed rigorous rounds of recruitment to receive funding from two research grants. International: Australia’s National Health and Medicine Research Council (National Health and Medicine Research Council) and Saving Brains Program of the Grand Canada Challenges (GCC) – Program to promote scientific research in the world world of Canadian health care. In which, the NHMRC used to finance the basic research phase and the 2013-2015 initiative, which continues to finance the effectiveness assessment in the community (2017-2020). GCC’s Saving Brains program will coordinate funding in 2018-2020 for the study with two additional objectives: (1) Promote research results to put into practice quickly, through advocacy strategy In both the domestic and international aspects, (2) coordinate the establishment of a replication transfer model, including ensuring technical assistance support for places where there is a need to implement initiatives.
