From August 21 to 23, 2024, the Research and Training Center for Community Development (RTCCD), in collaboration with the National Children’s Hospital, conducted a work shop on “Periodic Health Checkups for Children Under 24 Months Old,” under the chairmanship of the Department of Maternal and Child Health – Ministry of Health. The workshop was attended by 25 participants from the Centers for Disease Control, General hospitals, and Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital from six provinces: Bắc Kạn, Hòa Bình, Hà Giang, Tuyên Quang, Yên Bái, and Cao Bằng.

During the workshop, participants were highly enthusiastic and engaged, not only learning the theoretical aspects but also practicing directly in the classroom under the supervision of the instructors. The trainees were taught how to examine and assess the physical and mental health, motor skills, nutrition, and how to organize a periodic health checkup session at local health stations. Additionally, a new content module was introduced in this training, focusing on “assessing, observing, and advising families on comprehensive early childhood development for children under 24 months,” guided by the Research and Training Center for Community Development. After attending the theoretical sessions, participants practiced assessments using examination forms as Decision 2246/QĐ-BYT of the Ministry of Health, tailored to different age groups.

After three days of training, the healthcare workers expressed their satisfaction and readiness to implement the procedures in their local areas.
