On the morning of February 3, 2026, the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD), in collaboration with the Can Tho City Centre for Disease Control (CDC), conducted a monitoring visit to positive parenting skills training sessions at Commune Health Stations across Can Tho City.

The activity was implemented as part of the EM-THRIVE project, “Enabling Ethnic Minority (EM) and Rural Children From Five Provinces in Viet Nam to Grow and Thrive.”

The monitoring team consisted of six city-level trainers from the Can Tho CDC and two staff members from RTCCD. The team visited four Commune Health Stations: Hung Phu, Cai Rang, Tan An, and An Binh.

At the visited sites, Commune Health Workers successfully organized orientation sessions with strong participation from parents. The sessions created a positive and engaging learning environment, with parents actively involved throughout. Parents received knowledge from healthcare professionals through instructional videos on childcare and Early Childhood Development, and were guided to practice caregiving skills at home with direct support from health staff.

Following each training session, Commune Health Workers and the monitoring team held discussions to review the implementation process and provide feedback on how to improve future sessions.

These exchanges focused on enhancing training methods to ensure that parents:

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge on childcare and nurturing practices
  • Develop skills to support children’s cognitive stimulation and development
  • Acquire essential first aid skills
  • Promote Early Childhood Development in a holistic manner
