From April 8–10, 2026, the Tuyen Quang Department of Health, in collaboration with the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD), conducted monitoring and supportive supervision activities for commune health stations implementing the integration of the parenting support model into the National Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).

The Tuyen Quang Center for Disease Control was assigned by the provincial Department of Health to lead the implementation of this activity.

During the three-day supervision visit, the team provided technical support to health stations in Nghia Thuan, Quan Ba, and Lung Tam communes as they integrated parenting guidance activities into routine immunization sessions. In addition to vaccination activities conducted at commune health stations and outreach vaccination points, the mountainous context also required the use of community cultural houses in remote villages as outreach immunization sites for families living far from health facilities.

Following the provincial-level training for commune health workers, this marked the first time local health staff directly facilitated positive parenting guidance sessions for grandparents and parents bringing children for vaccination services. Alongside commune health staff, village health workers also delivered parenting guidance activities after children completed vaccination procedures.

Despite geographical challenges and more difficult socio-economic conditions compared to lowland provinces, the three commune health stations demonstrated strong efforts in organizing the activities and successfully mobilized community participation at both health facilities and village outreach immunization sites.

Notably, 100% of outreach village sessions were delivered by village health workers using local ethnic minority languages to ensure accessibility and understanding among community members.

After each implementation session, commune health workers, village health workers, and the supervision team gathered together to reflect, exchange feedback, and identify lessons learned to further improve the quality and effectiveness of future sessions.
