On April 23 and 29, the Research and Training Center for Community Development (RTCCD) organized two online discussion sessions with officials from five provinces, within the framework of the project “Promoting the Comprehensive Development of Children through Positive Parenting Skills Training in Five Provinces and Cities of Vietnam” (EM-THRIVE). These sessions focused on discussing and selecting appropriate topics to be integrated into routine vaccination sessions.
Participants in the discussions included:
- The Department of Maternal and Child Health, Ministry of Health – session facilitator
- The Office of the National Expanded Programme on Immunization (NEPI) – co-facilitator, with representatives from the technical team
- Managers and staff from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCs) of Hà Giang, Sóc Trăng, Bình Thuận, and Cần Thơ
- Health staff from commune and ward health stations in Hà Giang, Sóc Trăng, Bình Thuận, and Cần Thơ
- Staff from the Research and Training Center for Community Development (RTCCD)
The discussions were dynamic and welcomed valuable inputs from both provincial and Community-level staff, contributing to the adjustment of topics most suitable for integration into vaccination sessions.
All participants reached a consensus on selecting 12 topics to be incorporated into vaccination sessions, with content aligned to the practical needs of local parents.
Following the two discussions, the EM-THRIVE project will finalize the list of 12 topics. The content for each topic will be developed and adapted to suit the delivery format of each commune and ward health station, ensuring the materials are relevant, accessible, and appropriate for the target groups attending vaccination sessions.
