On April 5, the “Parent–Child Bonding Day” program was organized at Rollsport Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. with the participation of more than 100 children aged 10–18 and their parents. The event created meaningful emotional moments for both parents and children while providing an opportunity for families to reconnect and share love and understanding.
The program was jointly organized by the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labour. It is part of the No-VAC project funded by the United Nations Foundation and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), aiming to strengthen emotional connections among family members.
The pressures and responsibilities of daily life often make it difficult for parents to truly listen and emotionally connect with their children. At the same time, adolescents also face their own emotional and psychological challenges during a period of significant personal change.
Recognizing these barriers, the “Parent–Child Bonding Day” created a valuable opportunity for worker families at the Rollsport Thanh Hoa factory to strengthen family relationships and build deeper mutual understanding.
During the program, parents participated in sessions on emotional awareness and active listening skills to better understand their children and family members. Through engaging activities, parents learned how to manage emotions and discovered different ways of expressing love and care.
Meanwhile, young participants actively joined group discussions and family-themed activities that helped them better appreciate their parents’ concerns, sacrifices, and efforts, encouraging greater empathy and openness within the family.
In addition to expressing love through words and actions, parents and children took part in a handwritten letter activity, sharing untold stories, thoughts, and feelings through heartfelt messages.
Emotional conversations and tears emerged during the activity as many parents and children experienced, perhaps for the first time, a chance to sit together, truly listen, and openly express feelings that had long remained unspoken.
Through these simple letters, many parents shared their silent reflections on raising children, expressed care and concern, and voiced a desire to spend more time connecting with their children. At the same time, children courageously shared their own emotions, spoke about what they appreciated most in their parents, and expressed small wishes from everyday life.
These sincere messages became meaningful bridges that helped family members better understand one another and grow emotionally closer.
Throughout the program, not only children but also many parents actively participated in interactive activities with their children, including group discussions, emotional sharing sessions, and family bonding exercises.
Participating together created valuable opportunities for family members to openly share thoughts, emotions, and perspectives in a supportive and intimate environment. Through these shared experiences, many families recognized the importance of spending quality time together, helping strengthen family bonds and create a positive foundation for children’s healthy and holistic development.
The “Parent–Child Bonding Day” at Rollsport Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. created a meaningful space for families to listen, share, and understand one another more deeply through a range of engaging activities. The program also contributed to promoting positive family values and fostering supportive family environments for children’s holistic development.
