Training for Commune Health Workers on the “Positive Parenting Skills” Program in Can Tho City (Formerly Soc Trang) – Class 2 and 3

On March 11–12, 2026, the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD), in collaboration with the Can Tho Provincial Centre for Disease Control (CDC), organized training courses for commune health workers at My Xuyen Health Centre and Vinh Chau Health Centre. On March 11–12, 2026, the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD), in collaboration with the Can Tho Provincial Centre for Disease Control (CDC), organized training courses for commune health workers at My Xuyen Health Centre and Vinh Chau Health Centre.

The activity was implemented as part of the EM-THRIVE project, “Enabling Ethnic Minority (EM) and Rural Children From Five Provinces in Viet Nam to Grow and Thrive.”

  • Class 2 was conducted at My Xuyen Regional Health Centre, with participation from provincial-level instructors of the Can Tho CDC (formerly Soc Trang) and 30 village/hamlet health collaborators.

  • Class 3 took place at Vinh Chau Regional Health Centre, with provincial-level instructors and 30 additional village/hamlet health collaborators from local communities.

These participants serve as key community-based facilitators, supporting Commune Health Workers in delivering parenting guidance and promoting Early Childhood Development at the grassroots level.

The training focused on equipping participants with knowledge and hands-on skills related to childcare and development, including:

  • Childcare practices and nurturing care
  • Stimulation for child development
  • First aid skills
  • Techniques for guiding parents in home-based care

Throughout the sessions, trainees demonstrated strong enthusiasm and engagement, contributing to a dynamic and effective learning environment.
